Conference Overview

The Western Conference on Addictions (WCA) is a major vehicle for disseminating state-of-the-art information on addictions. Hosted by UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs (ISAP), the Pacific Southwest Addiction Technology Transfer Center, Matrix Institute, and the Clinical Trials Network - Pacific Region Node, WCA will draw together experts from across the country to discuss the latest research on addiction and treatment interventions. The target audience for this conference is psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, nurses, and addiction specialists. The 2-½ day conference includes plenary sessions and workshops each day, an evening reception on the 11th, and an exhibit area.

The goals of WCA are:

  • To develop a state-of-the-art addictions conference for the West Coast.
  • To offer advanced courses on addiction science to professional therapists working in public and private settings.
  • To disseminate research findings and provide hands-on instruction on treatment interventions.

Conference activities include:

  • Plenary sessions and workshops on Nov. 11 – 13, 2005
  • An evening reception on Nov. 11, 2005
  • Exhibits
